Your body shapes your swing.
A swing is a physical task performed by a specific body. When that body cannot get into a position, it finds another way in, and that compensation is often what a coach is trying to fix from the outside.
- 01
Mobility
How much range you have available at the hips, thoracic spine, shoulders, and ankles. Range you do not have has to be borrowed from somewhere that was not built to give it.
- 02
Stability
Whether you can hold a position while something else moves. Without it, the body leaks energy in the places you would rather it kept.
- 03
Strength
The capacity to produce and absorb force. It underwrites both what you can do and how well you tolerate doing it repeatedly.
- 04
Sequencing
The order things fire in. Two golfers with identical range can move very differently depending on what leads and what follows.
- 05
Control
Whether you can repeat the movement under speed and fatigue, on the eighteenth tee, not just the first.
We do not teach the golf swing, and we are careful not to claim that movement work will lower a score. What an evaluation can tell you is which physical limitations are shaping how you move, and which of them are worth addressing.
That information is useful on its own. It is more useful still when your coach has it too.
Certification held by Dr. Andrew Spehar, DC
A framework for the body, not a swing method.
The Titleist Performance Institute studies the relationship between how the body functions and how the golf swing is produced. Its value is in the questions it asks: what does this golfer physically have available, and what is the swing doing to work around what they do not?
Dr. Andrew Spehar, DC is TPI Medical Level 3 certified. That certification is his, personally, and it informs how he evaluates a golfer’s movement and builds a plan around what he finds.
It does not replace coaching. It sits underneath it, so that when your coach asks for a position, we can tell you whether your body can currently get there, and what it would take if it cannot.
- What it looks at
- Mobility, stability, and how you sequence rotation
- What it produces
- A physical picture your coach can work with
- What it is not
- A swing lesson, or a promise about your score
What we look at, and what you leave with.
- 01
Movement evaluation
A structured screen of what your body can currently do: how much rotation, extension, and separation you have, and where the range runs out.
- 02
Mobility & stability
Which restrictions are genuinely tight, which are a control problem, and which are neither, because the three need different answers.
- 03
Strength & rotational capacity
How much force you can produce and, just as importantly, absorb, through the hips, trunk, and shoulders.
- 04
Physical limitations in context
Where your body is most likely influencing the way you move through the swing, described plainly and without overreach.
- 05
An individualized plan
What to work on, in what order, and what would need to change for the next thing to be worth doing.
- 06
Something to share
A physical picture you can hand to your coach so you are both working from the same information.
Assessment and bay, same building
Where golfers most often hurt.
- 01
Low back
The most common complaint in golf. Rotation, extension, and how you load the trail side all feed into it.
- 02
Hip
Where a large share of rotation is meant to come from. When it does not, the back and knees tend to make up the difference.
- 03
Shoulder
Range and control through the lead and trail shoulder, and how the shoulder blade behaves through the backswing.
- 04
Elbow & wrist
Usually a load story: volume, grip demand, turf interaction, and a change in practice habits.
- 05
Knee
Rotation under load, particularly where the hip or ankle is not supplying what the swing is asking for.
- 06
Neck & mid-back
Rotation restrictions here rarely stay local, they get borrowed from above and below.
Training, not treatment.
Alongside clinical care, we run non-medical performance training for golfers: strength, mobility, power, and movement work aimed at physical capacity rather than symptoms.
This side of the work is training. It is not a diagnosis, it is not treatment, and it is kept deliberately distinct from clinical care. If something during training suggests an evaluation is warranted, we say so and change lanes.
Most golfers end up doing some of both. The balance depends on what the assessment found and what you are training for.

No. Golfers come in for injury care, but also to understand how their body is limiting the swing they are trying to make. Both start with the same thing: a look at how you actually move.
